GUEST SPEAKER

Rick_RyalsRick Ryals spoke about the R&H Sailfish tournament this Sunday August 21.  Went over rules.  Boundaries are Matanzas to Fernandina and out up to 40 miles offshore.  Any type of bait is acceptable.   Lines in the water at 7am  Fish till 4
Tournament channel 72
Committee boats are Rick on Dos Amigos
Tim on the Lit Up
And Charlie Hamaker on Reel Therapy.
Whoever catches the fish wins.
All $ to person that catches fish if only one fish is caught
2 fish pot split 70% - 30%
3 or more 50% - 30% - 20%

Rick also gave speech about light tackle fishing.   The Light tackle tournament  - fish with 8 lb test.
Rick states “Less tackle in the water the better”.  More bites, may loose more but will have more bites.
Double Uni knot is the easiest and most consistent to tie for light tackle.  It’s easier to tie offshore.
Don’t go more than 4 to 1 (leader to line).  Critical to moisten line before tie it down.
Barracuda counts for this tournament.. Troll ribbons really fast, bigger the better.
Yellow feather on a mono leader catches Bonitas (fish for them around school of porpoises)
Wreck fishing, pay attention to the current, which way it is running.  Get on down side of the current; get away from the wreck.
Rick said “plenty of leaders, plenty of patience” for light tackle fishing.

Q & A session. Thank you Captain Rick Ryals for this seminar!!
